According to a Florida Highway Patrol accident report, Eva Chase, 37, who was driving a 2001 Suzuki MC, exited I-4 alongside a 2010 Sterling semi-truck onto the ramp leading to I-75.
The report said Chase, who was in the outside lane, drifted left into a semi-trailer truck’s landing gear, a device that is lowered to stabilize a parked trailer. The impact threw her from cycle and she died at the scene.
The truck driver, 46-year-old Lucius Andrews of Lakeland, was unaware of the collision and continued on for a short distance until contacted about it, when he returned to the scene.
