Winter Garden police and Florida Highway Patrol troopers Monday were trying to find robbery suspects who ran away after their car crashed.
Troopers tried to stop a black Dodge Charger at Florida’s Turnpike and U.S. Highway 27 near Groveland, but the driver crashed and the people inside fled, the Florida Highway Patrol said.
The robbery happened about 3:40 p.m. at Value Pawn, 13987 W. Colonial Drive in Winter Garden, where two masked intruders ordered customers and employees to the ground at gunpoint, police said.

The robbers left in a silver van and headed west on State Road 50. They abandoned the van and took off in a black Dodge Charger. Florida Highway Patrol troopers said three people were in the car at that point.
Police chased the Charger onto Florida’s Turnpike, and the suspects got off at U.S. 27 southbound. The car crashed into a van, and the suspects ran away. The van driver wasn’t hurt.
