Colorado State troopers are at the scene of a crash on I-25 south of Castle Rock and investigating a possible link to a shots fired call in Colorado Springs earlier Saturday night.
Police were dispatched to a shopping center on Drennan Road and Academy Boulevard where shots were fired. Police said witnesses reported a rap battle going on among a group of performers at Pens Needles Custom Tattoo 2 got heated.
Someone fired at a performer as he was walking to his car. That man and the suspected shooters sped away from the scene. Police didn’t find anyone hurt, but they found shell casings and the front bumper to a car reported stolen from Denver.
Sometime later police say a State Trooper on I-25 spotted that car. When he tried to pull the driver over, the driver hit the gas, and crashed near Tomah Road south of Castle Rock.
There were 5 people in the car. 4 people of them were arrested and one person ran from the scene.
He is described as a black man wearing a white tank top with black jeans.
Troopers are working with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office to locate him. All lanes have re-opened.
