Three vehicles in Route 4 accident

— On March 21, at approximately 3:54 p.m., the Vermont State Police were dispatched to a three car motor vehicle accident in Rutland Town.

Upon arrival Regional Ambulance Service (RAS)and Rutland Town Fire were on scene. Vehicle 1 was driven by Elizabeth Carter, vehicle 2 was driven by Alice Miller, and vehicle 3 was driven by Seth LaChance.

Following interviews of all three operators it was determined that all three vehicles were traveling west on U.S. Route 4, just east of Post Road in the Town of Rutland. LaChance began to brake and slow down, as a vehicle infront of him was making a right hand turn onto Post Road. Miller also applied her brakes and slowed down, as vehicle 3 was coming to a stop.

Carter did not see vehicle 2 slowing down and crashed into therear end of vehicle 2, subsequently, forcing vehicle 2 into the rear end of vehicle 3.

Miller sustained minor injuries as a result of the crash and was transported to the Rutland Regional Medical Center. No other injuries were sustained during the crash.
