Teen Driver Dies in Cypress Crash, Family of 4 Survives

(CYPRESS, TX – Covering Katy) — A 16-year-old boy died after crashing his car on a slippery rain soaked road Sunday night on Spring Cypress west of Cutten Road.

The teen was driving a yellow Mitsubishi when he lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic. A Ford truck traveling east struck the car as it spun out of control across the road.The teen driver died at the scene.

The impact caused the truck to roll over on its roof.  A father, mother and two children — ages 12 and 15 — were in the truck, returning from the Houston rodeo.  They all managed to get out with minor injuries.

The teen who died was working as a delivery driver for a local restaurant and was returning after making a delivery.

Deputies said weather was a factor.   A recent rain shower had just occurred and deputies said it made the road slick.

First responders spent eight hours at the scene.
