Teen dies in weekend rollover I-4 crash

A 17-year-old Tangerine girl was pronounced dead at a hospital Monday night after a crash this weekend on Interstate 4 in Volusia County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.

Brandie Howard was a passenger in a Jeep SUV driven by 19-year-old Kaley Terry, which was struck by a Nissan that was changing lanes on I-4 about 5 p.m. Sunday, troopers said.

The SUV overturned. Terry, of Winter Park, suffered minor injuries. Both teens were taken to Halifax Health Medical Center, where Brandie was pronounced dead late Monday.

The Nissan driver, 20-year-old Jean-Claude Baker, was not injured. According to the FHP, Brandie was not wearing a seat belt. Investigators do not believe the crash involved alcohol.

The FHP said Tuesday that the crash remains under investigation.
