Several injured in Orlando bus crash

Orlando firefighters had to cut the roof off of a car to free a person after a sedan crashed head-on into a Lynx bus Saturday evening in Orlando.

Approximately 15 people suffered minor injuries after the 6:40 p.m. crash on Orange Avenue at the south end of Lake Ivanhoe, police said.

The driver of the car had the worst injuries and was in serious condition but stable, police said.

Orange Avenue was closed while officers investigated the crash and had the wreckage cleared.

The car was traveling in the wrong lane and the bus driver was not at fault, Lynx spokesman Matt Friedman said.

Seven bus passengers were taken to hospitals, Friedman said. Other passengers went on the next bus on the route 15 minutes later.

There was no explanation for why Orlando police and Lynx reported a different number of people injured in the crash.
