Serious motorcycle crash stopped Interstate 5 traffic

PORTLAND, OR (KPTV) -

A motorcycle rider suffered life-threatening injuries after crashing on Interstate 5 Friday.

Police were called to the scene at 4:15 p.m. just north of the Macadam Avenue off-ramp.

The Portland Police Bureau Traffic Division’s Major Crash Team conducted an investigation.

The 59-year-old woman on the motorcycle was listed in critical condition at the hospital Friday night, according to police.

Investigators believe the rear wheels locked up on her 2002 Honda Shadow and she was thrown off the bike into the roadway.

The woman’s name has not yet been released.

All northbound lanes of the highway were closed at the scene after the crash and traffic was brought to a stop in the area Friday night.

About three hours after the crash, authorities reopened all lanes of the highway.
