S.R. 408 reopens after big rig hit highway sign

State Road 408 reopened Sunday afternoon following a crash involving a big rig and a road sign.

The sign blocked the roadway near Tampa Avenue and John Young Parkway for about five hours. The highway reopened before 2 p.m.

Authorities said the driver of the big rig suffered non-life-threatening injuries.

One lane of traffic was able to get around the debris in the westbound lanes after the crash, but the highway was later closed as crews worked to clear the crash.

Police asked motorists to use alternate routes around the incident.
