Rollover accident on I-4 in Deland ties up traffic for hours

DELAND, Fla. (WOFL FOX 35 ORLANDO) -

A major accident badly hurt one person and tied up parts of Interstate 4 in Volusia County for hours Sunday.  All four lanes of I-4 at mile marker 114 west of Graves road were completely blocked and closed to traffic.

The two vehicle accident happened around 5:10 p.m. when a car and a Jeep collided with each other.  The crash was so intense the jeep overturned.

One person, who we know is a female, then had to be airlifted to the hospital.  At this time, troopers with Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) haven’t released her age or her name, but they did tell FOX 35 that she was critically injured.

Traffic was backed up for hours, and drivers were diverted off at Exit 114.  Also, we’re hearing reports that there may have been multiple people in the cars involved in this crash, but FHP hasn’t released a total number yet.

FOX 35 reporter, Kimberly Wiggins is following this crash closely at the scene, she’ll have a live report at 10 p.m.
