Man finds alligator
in fish pond
A 49-year-old Berks County man made a surprising discovery on Friday.
Robert J. Hipp of 292 Fredericksvill Road in Rockland Township found a 3-foot-long alligator in a fish pond on his property around noon.
With the help of his children, Hipp caught the alligator and put it in a box until state police arrived.
The alligator was then transported to the state police barracks in Reading. State police have contacted the Lehigh Valley Zoo about taking the alligator, which has been named “Little Rocky.”
Any agencies that can assist with the care of the alligator are asked to call state police in Reading at 610-378-4011.
on Interstate 78
Three Lebanon residents were arrested Saturday following a traffic stop on Interstate 78 East in Upper Saucon Township, according to a police report on LehighValleyLive.com.
Jenny Tirado, 19, was determined to be under the influence of a controlled substance after an officer pulled the vehicle over at 3:57 a.m. for traffic violations, according to the website.
Police also allege passenger Victor Hernandez, 21, had marijuana and passenger John Santiago, 19, gave false identification to the officer.
Tirado was taken to the Lehigh County DUI Processing Center in Allentown and charges are pending the result of drug test, police said.
Hernandez and Santiago were taken to the Lehigh County Central Booking Center, also
in Allentown, for their arraignments, police said.
SPILL CONTROL: City fire crews were dispatched for a gas leak at 421 N. 10th St. at 9:03 p.m. Thursday.
LIBRARY VIOLATIONS: The following people were cited with retention of library property: Michelle Gardner, 38, Juan Reyes, 32, and David Fox, all of North Lebanon Township; Sarah Martin, 28, Jessica Guzman, 43, Brian Fournier, 28, Brittany Dunkleberger, 24, and Evelyn Feliciano, 31, all of Lebanon; and Elmer Flores-Martinez, 32, of Pine Grove.
PUBLIC DRUNKENNESS: William Giles, 32, of Lebanon, was cited in the 100 block of North Seventh Street at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
DISORDERLY CONDUCT: Giovanny Matias, 20, of Lebanon, was cited for excessive noise from a motor vehicle in the 200 block of North Eighth Street at 7:05 p.m. Thursday, police said.
NOISE VIOLATION: Denarius Da-Val Ervin, 22, of Lebanon, was cited for a noise ordinance violation in the 1000 block of Mifflin Street at 2:43 a.m. Thursday, police said.
DOG VIOLATION: Tina Mejias, 36, was cited for dogs running at large in the 300 block of South 10th Street on June 15, police said.
DOG VIOLATIONS: Lorita Bullocks, 27, of Lebanon, was cited for dogs running at large and failure to provide proof of vaccination and licensing in the 400 block of New Street on July 20, police said.
DRUG CHARGES: Javier Rivera, 21, of Lebanon, was charged with possession with intent to deliver marijuana, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia after Lebanon County Adult Probation officers found marijuana and drug-packaging materials in his possession in the 300 block of North Seventh Street at 2:15 p.m. Thursday, police said.
CRASH:A pickup driven by Charles Lydamore, 66, Ephrata, struck a property belonging to Skip Miller at 30 Hoffman Road at 12:29 p.m. July 28, police said. No injuries were reported.
CRASH:A car driven by Barbara Draude, 68, of 680 Wynnewood Drive, and a car belonging to the U.S. Postal Service driven by Cynthia Patrick, 52, of 410 S. Goodwill St., Myerstown, collided in that 700 block of Cumberland Street at 5:18 p.m. July 28, police said. No injuries were reported.
CRASH:A van driven by Alan Shepp, 35, of 1100 Jackson Boulevard struck vehicles belonging to Marie Haag and Holly Sattazahn that were parked near their homes in the 300 block of South 10th Street at 8:05 a.m. July 27, police said. The accident is still under investigation. No injuries were reported.
CRASH:A bike ridden by Landon Nieblas, 13, of 415 S. 23rd St., struck a car driven by Nancy Jonovich, 75, of 828 S. Sixth St. in the 500 block of South Lincoln Avenue at 9:41 a.m. July 27, police said. Nieblas had a very minor injury, police said.
CRASH:Vehicles driven by Robert Brooks, 63, of 484 N. Fifth St. and Jackeline Gonzalez, 44, Staten Island, N.Y., collided in the 400 block of Lehman Street at 2:05 a.m. Sunday, police said. No injuries were reported.
CRASH:Vehicles driven by Cierra Hockley, 19, and Casey Krause, 24, both of Lebanon, collided at North 12th and Cumberland streets at 12:42 p.m. July 28, police said. No injuries were reported.
CRASH: A car driven by Cory Brodbeck-Coover, 33, of Grantville, was traveling west on Jonestown Road in East Hanover Township when it struck two parked vehicles at 9908 Jonestown Road at 11:17 p.m. Thursday, state police at Harrisburg said. The car fled, and Brodbeck-Coover was arrested and charged with driving under the influence, police said.
CRASH: A car driven by Michele Harnden, 51, of Hershey, struck the rear of a car driven by Joan Keener, 68, of Lebanon, as both cars were attempting to merge onto Route 39 eastbound from Route 22 eastbound in West Hanover Township at 1:49 p.m. Wednesday, state police at Harrisburg said. No injuries were reported.
DUI: Otis McElroy, 42, of Cleona, was charged with driving under the influence after a traffic stop on Cumberland Street at 22nd Street at 2:33 a.m. July 25, state police said.
HIT-RUN CRASH:A hit-and-run vehicle damaged a parked car owned by Richard Warner, Lebanon, while it was parked on Lowe’s parking lot, 1755 Quentin Road, on Thursday. Warner’s car sustained minor damage.
CRASH:A vehicle driven by Jason McCabe, no age listed, Lebanon, struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Amber Kerr, 36, Lebanon, as she was stopping for a traffic light at West Cumberland and 16th streets at 6:28 p.m. Thursday. Both vehicles were driven from the scene. No injuries were reported.
FIRE:Lebanon fire crews and a First Aid and Safety Patrol ambulance were called to 342 N. Partridge St. for a dwelling fire at 2:51 p.m. Friday. The small fire was brought under control in minutes.
CRASH: A van driven by Lloyd Martin, 68, of Theresa, N.Y., was traveling north on North Seventh Street when it struck the rear of a car driven by Alison Brandt, 22, of 1611 Greenwood Drive, that was waiting in traffic at Mechanic Street at 3:40 p.m. Thursday, police said. No injuries were reported.
CRASH: David Kushner, 38, of 338 N. Locust St., was driving east on West Main Street at 4:53 p.m. Wednesday when his vehicle struck the rear of a vehicle driven by Lisa Van Winkle, 43, of 1034 Fishburn Road, Hershey. Her vehicle then struck a vehicle driven by Donald Musser Jr., 47, Middletown. Van Winkle and Musser were stopped in traffic. No injuries were reported.
SIMPLE ASSAULT:Charles W. Trostle Jr., 42, of 39 S. Lingle Ave., was charged in connection with a domestic dispute at his home involving a 21-year-old Palmyra-area man who was not identified by police. The incident happened at 11:17 p.m. Thursday, police said.
THEFT:A representative of Palmyra Health and Rehabilitation Center, 341 N. Railroad St., told police that a small amount of medication was stolen between 3 and 11 p.m. Thursday.
CRASH:Landon Allebach, 19, of 164 Bell Road, pulled out from a parking lot in the 900 block of East Main Street, and his pickup truck collided with a car driven by Travis Alexander, 32, of 320 W. Church St., Annville, at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Alexander was traveling west on East Main Street. A passenger in Alexander’s car, Megan Rodgers, 26, also of 320 W. Church St., Annville, was taken to Hershey Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries. Both vehicles were towed. The accident remains under investigation.
CRASH: Steven Noll, 61, Myerstown, escaped injury when his vehicle was involved in a four-vehicle accident on I-78 at mile marker 32.5 in Windsor Township at 9:37 a.m. Friday. State police at Hamburg said Noll was stopped for traffic that stopped in front of him when his vehicle was struck in the rear by a truck driven by Marco Guiracocha, 43, Elizabeth, N.J. The impact pushed Noll’s vehicle into the rear of a vehicle driven by Jean Lucien, 42, Mahanoy City. Lucien’s vehicle was pushed into the rear of a car driven by Denise Simms, 52, Cockleysville, Md.
State police said Guiracocha suffered moderate injuries and had to be extricated from his truck. A state police report did not indicate where Guiracocha was taken for treatment. Lucien and a passenger in her vehicle suffered minor injuries, state police said.
