Investigators said the crash happened just after midnight.

A gray, four-door Toyota was driving East on Colonial Drive towards downtown Orlando when the pedestrian attempted to cross. The man was hit and transported to Orlando Regional Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

The driver, who remained at the crash site, does not appear at fault, and it is believed the pedestrian may have crossed through the intersection without the right-of-way.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.

Walking the metro Orlando roads has become increasingly deadly, because according to the Orlando Sentinel, last year 50 pedestrians were killed by cars.
