A Mundelein man died at Advocate Condell Medical Center in Libertyville on Saturday following a crash on Midlothian Road.

Brian Martin, 49, died of multiple traumatic injuries at 5:17 p.m. after being transported to the hospital by the Countryside Fire Protection District, according to Deputy Coroner Orlando Portillo.

Countryside officials said they received a call on the two-vehicle crash on Midlothian Road south of Wortham Road near Mundelein just before 4:30 p.m.

Portillo said the cause of death was attributed to injuries from the accident and that no autopsy was planned, but toxicology tests are being conducted.

According to Sgt. Sara Balmes of the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, which is investigating the crash, reports indicate that Martin lost control of his car, which was then struck by another vehicle.

Three occupants of the second vehicle were treated at Condell following the accident, but none of the injuries were life-threatening, Balmes said.
