
Trucks block I-84

UPDATE issued at 1:15 p.m.: I-84, Eastbound lanes are now open between MP 216 (five miles south of Pendleton) to MP 317 (13 miles south of Baker City).
Expect possible lane restrictions near MP 317 where truck crash occurred earlier this morning. Road conditions throughout the area remain hazardous. Travelers are advised to drive with extreme caution and be prepared for winter conditions.

Original report: Oregon State Police (OSP) and Oregon Department of Transportation (ODOT) responded to the scene of a non-injury crash involving three commercial trucks blocking the eastbound lanes of Interstate 84 about 13 miles east of Baker City Thursday morning, Oct. 25.
Preliminary information indicates at approximately 5:30 a.m., a commercial truck pulling a semi-trailer traveling eastbound on Interstate 84 near milepost 318 lost control and jackknifed.
A second commercial truck pulling a trailer struck the rear of the first trailer. A third commercial truck pulling two trailers collided with the first truck before continuing down the road and coming to rest partially off the freeway. No drivers were injured.
An update issued at 11:30 a.m. by Oregon Department of Transportation: I-84, All eastbound lanes are now closed between MP 216 (five miles south of Pendleton) to MP 317 (13 miles south of Baker City) due to semis blocking the freeway near MP 317. Old U.S. 30 between Baker City and Durkee (I-84 MP 306 – 327) is open to passenger vehicles Only
Road conditions throughout the area remain hazardous. The eastbound freeway is expected to be closed for several hours. Westbound lanes are open at this time, but travelers are advised to drive with extreme caution and be prepared for winter conditions and possible delays.
