A crash involving a semi, a bus and a van shut down for several hours Monday the southbound lanes of Interstate 75 just south of the Palm Beach Boulevard exit in Fort Myers.

Three people were taken to the hospital, according to news partner WINK News.

Troopers say the driver of a white van was heading northbound when he lost control. He hydroplaned and crossed into oncoming traffic, causing a chain-reaction crash. The semi jackknifed and overturned and multiple cars were totaled.

That semi spilled 150 gallons of fuel on the side of the road. Crews say they will be cleaning it up for the next several days.

The crash was reported at 6:38 p.m. The southbound lanes of I-75 reopened around 8:40 p.m.
