Hunt for couple in tunnel race crash

Police are searching for a young couple who fled the scene of a dramatic Causeway Bay crash that saw their Audi A7 burst into flames in a collision that involved three other vehicles.

The male driver and the woman left in a taxi.

The accident happened at 5.45pm as the Audi was apparently racing with a white van inside the Cross-Harbour Tunnel.

After exiting the tunnel, the Audi hit a vehicle before smashing into about 10 meters of a crash barrier facing Sino Plaza on Gloucester Road.

Debris from the barrier hit two vehicles on the tunnel-bound Gloucester Road.

The couple were seen running out of the Audi car.

The crash led to a long traffic tailback. Normalcy was resumed shortly after 9pm, the Transport Department said.

Meanwhile, six people were slightly injured after eight cars collided near Hong Lok Yuen in Tai Po.

At about 5am, a Kowloon- bound coach collided with a container truck that allegedly tried to switch lanes.
