LAWRENCE, Kan. — The Kansas Highway Patrol continued on Wednesday to investigate Saturday’s deadly accident that killed the driver of a semi when he slammed into a toll booth on I-70.

His passenger, Roman  Ilyaich, 25, had to be cut from the cab and was flown to the hospital.

The company that hired Sergiy Angelchev, 30, of Colorado, said it appears Angelchev fell asleep at the wheel.

According to the Lawrence-Journal World, Angelchev had apparently driven 955 miles in two days.  FOX 4′s Robert Townsend called Eastern Freight Solutions of Colorado and an employee said the company had no comment.

According to Roman’s girlfriend, Anna Zlotnikova, Roman and Sergiy left Aurora, Colo. on Monday, March 24, for a cross -country trip in the semi.
