Crash on Stadium Drive sends 4 to hospital

KALAMAZOO, MI — Four people were injured in a crash on Stadium Drive Thursday afternoon.

Kalamazoo County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the accident at 5:40 p.m. in the 8600 block of Stadium Drive, between 4th and 5th Streets, according to a news release.

Deputies say, a car, driven by a 56-year-old Mattawan man, was traveling west and attempting to turn into Camp Fido Dog Daycare when it was rear-ended by another vehicle, operated by a 36-year-old Paw Paw woman.

The crash caused the first vehicle to cross the center line and collide with a van that was traveling east and operated by a 25-year-old Kalamazoo man.  The second collision caused the first vehicle to overturn on its roof. The Mattawan man had to be extricated from the car by Oshtemo Township Fire and Rescue.

All three drivers and one passenger in the eastbound van were taken to Kalamazoo-area hospitals for precautionary measures, deputies say. The crash remains under investigation.
