Car crashes into Popeye’s Chicken in Orlando

A LYNX-owned van crashed into a Popeye’s Chicken restaurant Monday in Orange County, near the Pine Hills area.

The driver is now facing charges for running a red light and driving with a suspended license.

The crash happened sometime after 2 p.m. at the restaurant on the 5200 block of West Colonial Drive near Pine Hills Road.

Florida Highway Patrol said the driver of the LYNX Van Pool vehicle, 26-year-old Phillip Brown, ran a red light on West Colonial, hit a Ford Focus in a left turn lane, drove off the road and into the restaurant.

The van struck two people who were sitting inside the restaurant. They and the driver of the Focus were taken to the hospital. There is no word on their conditions. A third person was also injured, but FHP did not provide more details on that victim.

Brown was not injured.
