A developer has lodged plans for a new village primary school.
Charles Church Homes has submitted a scheme for a replacement primary school in Rothley, which would have a larger capacity and improved facilities than the existing building.
The purpose-built school would replace the one in Mountsorrel Lane and would have a capacity for about 420 pupils, instead of the current 370.
The replacement school would be part of the firm’s proposed Brookfield Farm development in Rothley, which would see 180 homes being built.
Villagers have opposed the scheme, which is being considered by Charnwood Borough Council.
