Biscuits to make big announcement ahead of Rays at Riverwalk – …

On the Wednesday edition of “Today in Alabama,” the Montgomery Biscuits will make a big announcement that is exclusively on WSFA 12 News.

WSFA reporter Melissa Johnson will have a live interview from the stadium between 6:50 and 7 a.m., where Sherrie Myers, owner of the Biscuits, and the state AG commissioner will announce the big news hours before the official announcement. All they are saying right now is, “Big Mo is lonely, and he needs a friend!”

The Tampa Bay Rays will be at Riverwalk Stadium on Saturday to play the Montgomery Biscuits in the first ever Rays at Riverwalk baseball game.

The gates will open to the public at noon, and the first 2,500 fans through the gates will receive replica Joe Maddon glasses.

The two teams will take batting practice between 12:15 and 1:15 p.m.  Players for both teams will be available for autographs for a limited time. Pre-game ceremonies will begin at 1:25 p.m., and first pitch of the exhibition game will be at 2:05 p.m.

This is the first time Montgomery has seen a Major League Baseball team play its affiliate team.  For more information on the Rays at Riverwalk, visit
