A 7-year-old autistic boy was killed in a hit-and-run crash in Orange County on Silver Star Road and Orlando West Drive late Wednesday night.
State troopers said the boy ran onto Silver Star Road and was hit by as many as three cars.
The crash was reported at 10:15 p.m. Wednesday night.
Troopers said the first car that struck the boy fled the scene. But after being hit the first time, at least two other vehicles hit the child and both of those drivers stopped.
Investigators said are trying to figure out who the first driver was, although they don’t have a description of that vehicle.
The Florida Highway Patrol said it’s investigating why the boy was out on the streets so late, and the possibility that someone was trying to chase him down at the time, trying to keep him from being injured.
The boy’s name was not released.
