4 killed in Narayanganj road crash

Four people were killed and 25 injured as a bus overturned on Dhaka-Chittagong highway in Sonargaon upazila of Narayanganj this morning.

The deceased were identified as bus helper Johnny, 30, of Munshiganj and three passengers — Alek Mia, 45, of Munshiganj; Parul Begum, 24, wife of Fazor Ali of Comilla; and one Hasan, reports our Narayanganj correspondent.

Rafiqul Islam, officer-in-charge of Sonargaon Police Station (investigation), said a Comilla-bound bus from Dhaka turned turtle in Triburdi New Bus Stand area around 8:30am after its driver lost control over steering.

The helper and three passengers of the bus died on the spot while 25 others were injured in the accident, the OC said.

On information, police with the help of locals recovered the bodies and rescued the injured passengers, he added.

The wounded persons were whisked off to local hospitals and clinics.

Vehicular movement on the highway remained suspended for nearly half an hour following the accident.
