An Arizona motorist was arrested after he and three others were injured early Tuesday in a car-semitrailer truck accident northwest of Atlantic, Iowa.
The Cass County Sheriff’s Office said the accident occurred about 3:30 a.m. on westbound Interstate 80.
Michael P. Miller, 33, of Glendale, Ariz., was arrested after his 2007 Ford Edge struck the rear of a 2011 International semi driven by Abdikarim Hamud, 41, of St. Paul, Minn., the Sheriff’s Office said.
The Edge slid into the I-80 median. Miller and three passengers were taken to Cass County Memorial Hospital with various injuries, authorities said. Hamud was not injured.
Miller was arrested on suspicion of first-offense operating a vehicle while impaired, carrying a concealed weapon, child endangerment causing bodily injury and driving while suspended, among other allegations, authorities said.
Miller was being held in the Cass County Jail. His bail was set at $5,000. — Jay Withrow
