4 injured in accident near downtown Omaha – Omaha World

Four people were seriously injured and taken to hospitals Tuesday after a two-vehicle crash just west of downtown Omaha.

The crash occurred about 11:20 a.m. at the intersection of 24th Street and St. Mary’s Avenue.

Reports indicated that three men in a Ford Expedition SUV that was left on its driver’s side were taken to a hospital. Contents from the SUV, including clothes and a suitcase, were strewn in the intersection.

At least one person, possibly a boy, was also taken to an Omaha hospital. He was in a Toyota minivan that was possibly carrying five people.

Bob Houston, former director of the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, said at the accident scene that a niece was driving the minivan and three other nieces and possibly a nephew were passengers.
