A fiery crash along Interstate 94 in Waukesha County has left a teenager critically injured and three others hurt, including two sheriff’s deputies.
Waukesha County Sheriff’s Deputy Inspector James Gumm says a vehicle crashed into a squad car parked in the interstate median about 3 a.m. Thursday and caught fire.
Gumm says two deputies rescued the 18-year-old driver and a 17-year-old unconscious passenger from the burning vehicle. The deputies were treated and released from a suburban Milwaukee hospital. Gumm says the teen passenger was transported by helicopter to Froedtert (FRAY’-dert) Hospital with critical injuries.
The driver of the vehicle was taken to Waukesha Memorial with minor injuries. The State Patrol says driver, from St. Francis, is suspected of driving while intoxicated.
